In Dalian dialect, there exists the phenomenon of difference or similarity between some particular vowels pronunciation and their counterparts in standard Chinese.

This article discusses the tone sandhi pattern of AA"(儿)"and ABB in Datong dialect,argues that there exist in the two sandhi patterns the underlying representations which adjust during the transformations to the surface representations according to the tone of the first syllable.
