中国管理全国电影事业的领导机关。设在北京。1949年4月,北平解放后不久，在中国共产党中央宣传部领导下，建立了中央电影事业管理局。1949年10月1日,中华人民共和国中央人民政府成立，改由中央人民政府文化部领导。当时的主要任务是接管、改建原国民党政府的电影企、事业单位，建立人民的电影事业。第一任局长是袁牧之。1954年，改称文化部电影事业管理局。1966年"文化大革命"开始后，电影事业管理局被迫停止工作。1976年10月，各电影制片厂逐步恢复电影创作生产。1978年初调整了电影事业管理局的领导班子，并开始恢复正常业务工作。1980年正式恢复局建制。1986年 3月，文化部电影事业管理局划归新成立的广播电影电视部领导。
