中国研究世界现代史的群众性学术团体。1979年成立,会址设在北京师范大学。下设东北区、华北区、西北区、华东区、中南区和西南区6个分会。会员419人(1987)。领导机构为全体会员选举产生的理事会。研究会聘请宦乡为名誉会长。现任第 3届理事会产生于1985年，会长为北京师范学院齐世荣教授。另设理事若干人、秘书长1人。研究会在马克思主义指导下研究世界现代史,贯彻百花齐放、百家争鸣方针，团结和组织全国世界现代史研究和教学工作者积极开展学术讨论、交流教学经验。具体任务是：提出和研究世界现代史的重要课题；组织会员撰写论著；编译资料；召开学术讨论会；举办讲习班；发现和培养人才等。
