It adopts a research method of applying the non-structural cohesion theory and cultural context theory to the text analysis, and argues and proves the coherence of the text from the non-structural cohesion and cultural context perspectives.

This paper, based on re-examination of the conception and the classification of discourse cohesion, studies the presentation forms of structural cohesion (mainly embodied in the substitution of nouns, verbs, clauses and their omissions, and in similar structures) in English discourse and how these forms are translated (or converted) into Chinese.
