【农村保险合作社】由需要保险的农民或集体经济单位以自愿原则共同组织起来，采取合作方式办理保险的非营利性质的互救自治组织。它为全体被保险人所有，被保险人也是保险人之一，主体合一，连带负责保险合作社的资金筹集、业务经营和出险理赔。合作社成员集股出资和交纳的保费，是赔款的准备金，所有的财产、责任准备金归全体成员共有，对受损者的经济补偿体现办社的互助互济的目的。农村保险合作社属于一种合作经济，可以保险合作社的身份向国有保险公司投保再保险，或以保险合作社名义向银行贷款，以满足巨额赔款时的需要。
