性状描述:白色结晶。熔点96-97℃。易溶于醇和醚,微溶于沸水,几乎不溶于冷水。

生产方法:由对羟基苯甲酸与正丙醇酯化而得。将对羟基苯甲酸和丙醇混合,加热使溶解,慢慢加入硫酸,继续加热回流8h后冷却,倒入4%碳酸钠溶液中析出结晶,过滤,水洗至中性即为粗品,再经乙醇重结晶而得成品。制备中,也可采用阳离子交换树脂代替硫酸催化剂。

用途:用作食品、化妆品、药物等的防腐杀菌剂。
