民勤沙生植物园 
建立在巴丹吉林大沙漠的东南缘，占地面积为400公顷，是中国第一座沙漠植物园。甘肃民勤沙生植物园以沙生、早生植物的引种驯化为中心，主要从事发掘沙区野生植物资源，选育良科，繁殖推广等工作。同时开展荒漠植物的生理学、生态学的观察，测定及探索其经济利用途径等试验研究，为发展荒漠地区的林牧农副业提供优良种苗、技术措施和科学依据，是改造和利用沙漠的科研基地。
