一时期里.德国则从小麦的出口国变为进口国，即由过去每年出口10万吨变为进口21()万吨。这期间法、意、荷、比和丹麦等国的小麦进口额也都有所增加。英美的工业革命都是从棉纺织工业开始的。市场上对棉花的需求推动了美国植棉业的发展长期以来，美国出口的棉花占世界首位。第一次世界大战前的1909一1913年，平均每年美国出口的棉花达200万吨，:片世界出口总额的61.5%。其次为印度42.6万吨，占13.1%;埃及31.3万吨，占9.6%;中国5.2万吨，占1.6%等。进口国以英国为主，达103万吨，占进口额的32 .6%。其次为德国45.7万吨，占14、5%;日本31.2万吨，占9.9%;法国31.1万吨，占9.9%;奥匈帝国19.6万吨.占6.2%;意大利19.4万吨，占6.1丸;沙俄19.2万吨，占6.1%等。德、日等后进工业国棉纺织业的发展，在世界棉花市场上也成为新的竞争对手。随着消费和生产的增长，砂糖已逐步成为大众化的食品。第一次世界大战前，世界砂糖出口总量为786.6万吨，其中蔗糖占70%多，主要出口国为古巴，占23.3%，美国所属殖民地占16.7%，印度尼西亚占10.5%。甜菜糖主要产自欧洲大陆。德国和奥匈帝国的出口量分别占世界砂糖出口总额的l()%左右。砂糖的进口国主要是美国，280万吨，占36%;英国184万吨，占24%。其次为印度8.2%，日本4%，中国3.9%等。茶的出口集中于印度、中国和斯里兰卡。进口以英国、美国及俄国为主。由于消费习惯的不同，美、德、法、荷、比等国人民喜欢饮用咖啡。这五国的咖啡进口量达总额72%。咖啡虽原产于非洲的埃塞俄比亚，但出口国主要在新大陆的一些拉丁美洲国家。冷冻工艺的应用，推动了畜产品贸易的发展。19世纪中叶以前，以英国为主的畜产品市场，大体是在欧洲范围内进行的。但是从6()年代以后，阿根廷和澳大利亚的牛羊肉就以冷冻的形式开始出口。1874年美国也开始向英国出口冷冻牛肉。不久，这些国家就逐步成为世界上肉类产品的仁要出口国。 主要进口国的概况从19世纪下半叶起，继英国之后，法、美、德、日等国相继实现了工业化，新的农产品出口国也先后涌现，农产品世界贸易的地位结构也有些变化，各国进出口的农产品类别、数量互有消长增减。进口的结构及比重，在西欧儿个主要国家的变化情况，最为明显。 谷物贸易的历史由来虽久，但在过去数额有限，而且运送的距离不大。在欧洲，除了意大利、荷兰等国的一些商业城市购进少量谷物以外，还在凶年歉收时.调剂部分地区的余缺。。从17世纪后半叶到18世纪前半叶，英国还是小麦的出口国。工业革命以后开始转变。但是直到19世纪初，英国进口的农产品也还多是来自欧洲大陆。
