发展心理生物学(develoPmental psyeho·biology)发展心理学与心理生物学相交叉的一个新学科。正式形成的标志是1968年美国一批心理学家创办的《发展心理生物学》杂志。它围绕个体生命全过程中的行为、心理形成的基础而展开研究，其研究内容主要包括四个方面:(l)幼儿的能力。(2)智力的遗传性问题。(3)气质的生物学基础。(4)非人类种系的智力水平问题。其主要特点:第一，与进化论和遗传学密切相关，该学科的研究者基本上接受达尔文的进化论思想，有的人还接受了胚胎学家的复演说观点;第二，深受现代心理生物学对亲子关系研究的影响，这种研究为发展心理生物学带来了独特的观念和方法;第三，神经科学的一些研究方法促进了发展心理生物学的发展，如对大脑神经系统的理化分析、对未成熟动物的药物学和神经系统发育的解剖学研究等方面的技术，都己运用到发展心理生物学之中;第四，重视对早期经验的研究，该学科的研究者普遍承认早期经验在个体发展过程中的重要作用，力图探寻早期经验与个体发展之间的因果作用模型。 (王小英撰车丈博审)
