菜蛾 Plutellidae;plutellid moths 鳞翅目菜蛾科的通称 。全世界已知约200种。为小型蛾类。头部鳞片紧贴或有丛毛。单眼有或无。舌发达。触角是翅长的2/3~4/5,栖息时向前伸,根据这一特点,容易与麦蛾、巢蛾相区别。幼虫胸足、腹足俱全,趾钩排成单序环,臀足较长而往后斜伸,多在叶片上拉丝取食叶肉或潜叶,蛀食嫩梢,结网状茧化蛹其中。有趋光性。最常见的种类小菜蛾是蔬菜的重要害虫,分布全世界。
