依靠轴和轮毂上纵向齿的相互啮合来传递扭矩的可拆联接,是联接轴与带毂零件的常用方式。与普通键联接比较,花键联接齿数多,总承载面积大,轴、毂受力均匀,齿根应力集中小,被联接件的强度削弱也较小,有利于提高承载能力。此外,花键齿可采用完善的加工工艺,两被联接件的定心性好,带毂零件能沿轴移动,零件的互换性也容易保证。但花键齿加工须用专门设备和刀具。花键已标准化,按齿形的不同分为矩形、渐开线形和三角形3种(见图)。矩形花键应用很广。渐开线形花键齿根较厚且齿根圆角较大,承载能力高,可用制造齿轮的方法进行加工,工艺性好。三角形花键的齿较细,适用于载荷很轻或薄壁零件的联接。
