凉城风景区位于河北保定市西北部的涞源县境内，太行山、恒山、燕山在此交汇，易水、涞水、拒马河同源于此，这里气候凉爽，群峰吐翠，碧潭泉涌，万壑竞秀，是太行山深处一处绝好的旅游胜地。
“拒马寻源”是涞源凉城风景区的核心部分，是一处著名的景观。涞源，是河北平原西部深山中的一个山间盆地，盆地中间有泉水涌出，形成拒马河。拒马河古称涞水，所以这里被称为涞源。拒马河原称巨马河，“巨马”乃水大流急如巨马奔腾之意。后相传因曾拒石勒之马南下又被写作“拒马”。无论“巨马”还是“拒马”，均言其水势之大。
