前轮弹射方式是美国海军1964年试验成功的。舰载机的前轮支架装上拖曳杆,前轮就直接挂在了滑块上,弹射时由滑块直接拉着飞机前轮加速起飞。这样就不用8-10甲板人员挂拖索和捡拖索了。弹射时间缩短,飞机的方向安全性好,但这种舰载机的前轮要专门设计。美国海军核动力航母都采用了这种起飞方式。
