| 直线运动 rectilinear motion 轨迹是直线的质点运动。包括匀速直线运动和变速直线运动两类。 匀速直线运动是速度的大小和方向都不变的运动。当运动物体所受的合外力为零时，加速度为零，物体做匀速直线运动。 变速直线运动是速度大小改变而方向不变的运动。当运动物体所受的合外力不为零，它的方向又同物体速度的方向在同一直线上时，物体做变速直线运动。合外力跟速度方向相同时 ，物体做加速直线运动；合外力跟速度方向相反时，物体做减速直线运动。在上述情况中，如果合外力的大小、方向不变，则物体做匀加速直线运动或匀减速直线运动。做匀变速直线运动的物体，在任何相等时段内的速度改变量都相等；其初速度  、加速度a（a为正值，是匀加速运动；负值则为匀减速运动）、运动经历时间t、所行距离s和末速度υ之间存在以下3个关系： 。自由落体运动和竖直上抛运动是两个典型的匀变速直线运动。①自由落体运动。只受重力作用，从静止开始下落的物体称自由落体，其运动称自由落体运动。这种运动是初速为零，加速度为g（重力加速度）的匀加速直线运动 。自由落体运动的3个公式可将上面3个关系式中的  和a代之以0和g而得出：
