现代管理把管理科学、行为科学及电子计算机技术结合起来，注重企业经营战略和决策的管理理论和方法。是继科学管理、行为科学出现以后，于20世纪40年代以来逐步形成和发展起来的。它是管理科学发展到现在水平的概括，是当代世界各国企业管理现代化不同角度和侧面的综合反映。现代管理主要有以下特点:①重视经营战略和经营决策。认为经营战略关系到企业发展的全局和将来，经营决策是管理的重心。②强调系统管理的提高和整体效能。主张把系统论、信息论、控制论应用于企业管理，把管理当作一个系统，以系统观念为指导进行战略决策和业务决策，优化管理功能。③突出以人为中心的管理和开发人力资源。主张把对物、对事和对人的管理紧密结合起来，而以对人的管理为中心，加强对职工的培训和合理使用，运用行为科学理论，激励他们的积极性和创造性。④广泛应用现代自然科学和技术的新成就，主张把数学方法和电子计算机应用于企业管理，以提高管理效率和经济效益。中国企业在实现管理现代化过程中，结合自己的实际情况，也吸收借鉴了现代管理的理论和方法，如目标管理、价值工程、系统工程、量本利分析、ABC分类法、全面质量管理、滚动计划、成组技术、看板管理、网络计划技术、正交试验法等，使企业管理逐步由原来的生产型向生产经营型、由执行型向决策型、由封闭型向开放型、由单一经营型向多种经营型发展，并注意把定性分析和定量方法相结合进行战略决策，以提高企业管理的现代化水平。
