Numerical Simulation and Laboratory Research of Liquefiable Soils Deformations during the Earthquake;

On the basis of constructional practice and testing data obtained at the experimental base of the key subjects of Xi an Highway University, this paper introduces the effects of strengthening liquefiable sandy soil by using vibrated gravel piles, its constructional measures, and further verifies its considerable efficiency in the strengthening of liquefiable sandy soil.

Based on the API code, the double-parameter modified method and the revised computational formula for lateral dynamic p–y curves of pile foundation in liquefiable soil layers are presented by using pile-soil shaking table tests, and as a result, the unacceptable problem of the current coefficients for calculating the dynamic p-y curves by the API code in engineering practice can be solved.
