neurotransmitter
又称递质。神经系统的突触，不论是在周边神经系统或中枢神经系统，最大多数是化学突触，其传递神经冲动的方式是由突触前神经元释放某种特殊化学物质来作用于突触后神经元，从而对突触后神经元产生兴奋性或抑制性效应。这种特殊化学物质称为神经介质。目前发现介质种类日益增多，如乙酰胆碱、去甲肾上腺素、5-羟色胺、多巴胺、γ-氨基丁酸、甘氨酸、谷氨酸以及若干种多肽。
