Methods Morphological observation of the IAM was conducted on the specimens taken from 42 Chinese, and the length, width of the bilateral IAM as well as the distances from various regions of the adjacent petrous bone measured and statistically analyzed.

Objective: To study the posterior surface of petrous bone and abut important neurovessel, in order to provide anatomical prove for clinic transpetrous presigmoid retrolabrinth approach.
