法国女诗人。父亲是纹章工艺画师，家业在法国大革命中破产。她从小过着贫困流离的生活，曾当过舞台服装缝纫工、歌唱演员、舞台朗诵。她爱上了诗人、小说家德·拉图什，可是不为对方所理解。这一纯洁、隐秘的爱情，在她的诗歌中得到了深刻动人的反映。1817年和一个不太知名的演员瓦尔莫结婚。1823年脱离剧院生活，专事写作。以后跟着丈夫漂泊流离,居无定所,两个女儿相继死亡， 晚景极为凄凉困苦。 她的第一部诗集 《哀歌与小唱》发表于1819年。 以后又发表《泪》（1833）、《可怜的花朵》（1839）、《花束与祈祷》(1843)等诗集。1860年她的《诗歌遗集》问世。
代博尔德-瓦尔莫的诗,是她的坎坷一生的写照,感情真挚，节奏自然，不刻意求工而富于音乐感。对她来说,写诗,与其说是一种艺术，不如说是出于生命的需要。她是在感到不得不把它写出来的时候才写诗的，"她写诗如同鸟儿歌唱一样"（圣伯夫语）。她的诗作虽不乏欢娱之词，但更多的是愁苦之音，受到浪漫派的高度重视，也为象征派所喜爱，特别是《诗艺》的作者魏尔兰，从她的诗歌中汲取了不少有益的营养。
