The heat-resistant explosive 2,2′,4,4′,6,6′-hexanitro-diphenyl sulfone(PCS) was synthesized by oxidation with CrO3 as oxidant in HNO3 medium of a intermidiate,2,2′,4,4′,6,6′-hexanitro-diphenyl sulfide(DPS),which was prepared by condensation reaction using 2,4,6-trinitrochlorobenzene and sodium thiosulfate as starting materials.
