Allylsamarium bromide, prepared by the reaction of allyl bromide with samarium in THF at room temperature, reacted via 1,2-addition with α,β-unsaturated aldehydes or ketones to give homoallyl alcohol.

Allylation of terminal epoxides 1 can be carried out successfully by allyl bromide and metallic zinc or tin in a novel one-pot synthesis to give the homoallylic alcohols 2 and bishomoallylic alcohols 3.

Easy access to synthesize branched homoallylic alcohols was investigated.

The enantioselective allylation of carbonyl compouds is one of the most valuable methods to furnish chiral homoallylic alcohols, which are widely used in the syntheses of many natural products and biologically active compounds.

Considering the difficulty of storage,transportation,loading and unloading for the distilled fuels with higher pour points,a pour point depressant,PAAN,was synthesized through radical poly- merization of higher alkyl acrylate and acylonitrile.

Synthesis and purification of long chain alkyl acrylate as intermediate of pour point depressant were introduced .

The long chain alkyl acrylates were synthesized by reaction of acrylic acid with C 12 ～C 18 alcohols using AS catalyst, the ester yield≥95%.
