| 绸 silk fabric 采用基本组织、混用变化组织、质地紧密的丝织物。丝绸起源于中国。绸出现于西汉，当时写作“”，专指利用粗丝乱丝纺纱织成的平纹织品。两晋南北朝时期，绸开始有粗、细之分。汉唐时期，中国丝绸即已通过丝绸之路，远销中亚、欧、非各国。明清以来绸成为丝织品的泛称。绸按原料分，除采用桑蚕长丝的以外，还有用绢纺落棉的棉绸，使用柞蚕丝的鸭江绸，用双宫丝的双宫绸，用化学纤维长丝的涤纤绸等。绸可分为生（白）织和熟（色）织，又可分为不提花的素绸和提花的花绸。绸属中厚型丝织物，其中较轻薄的品种可做衬衣和裙；较厚重的可做外套和裤。近代以来，习惯把紧密结实的经向支持面平纹丝织物称作绸，如塔夫绸。具有上述特点的棉织物也常被称作绸，如府绸。习惯上还把绸和缎联系起来作为丝织物的总称——绸缎，有时也用丝绸作为丝织物的代称。
