Octadecyl hydroxysulfobetaine was synthesized under reaction temperature 90 ℃ and reaction time 4 h using isopropanol aqueous solution(volume ratio of isopropanol to water 2∶1) as solvent,from octadecyl tertiary amine and sodium 3-chloro-2-hydroxy propane sulfonate which was prepared using sodium hydrogen sulfite as sulfonating agent under 85 ℃.
