性质:将无机物填充到木材中所形成的复合材料。为改善木材的物理-机械性能,可将木材浸没于水玻璃溶液或四乙基硅氧烷(TEOS)中,一定时间后取出,经70℃干燥处理,即可获得。如将它再浸入饱和硫酸盐铝或有机铝溶液中,一定时间后取出,最后经70℃干燥处理,可得性能更佳的陶瓷木材制品。陶瓷木材具有木材的颜色、光泽、木纹,能用加工木材的方法进行加工。增重30%~60%,耐火性大大提高。吸水率从未处理木材的140%左右,下降至50%~90%。尺寸稳定性和吸湿膨胀性也有改善。硬度可提高120%左右,强度可提高20%以上。陶瓷木材为改善劣质木材的性能提供了有效途径。如将这种陶瓷木材再经高温(约900℃)热处理,木质部分将碳化挥发,而无机盐将形成具有木质结构和开口气孔的多孔陶瓷,利用其比表面大,可用作过滤器材料或新型催化剂载体。
