性质：又称4,5,8-三羟基-2-甲基蒽醌。暗红色扁平针状结晶。熔点226～227℃。稍溶于乙醇、乙醚、丙酮。微溶于醋酸发出绿色荧光。溶于浓硝酸冷时无色，热时变为樱红色。遇氢氧化钠呈蓝光红色。乙醇溶液中加氨水、碳酸氢钠、碳酸钠、硼砂等均呈紫色。遇硫酸镍呈深红色。遇三氯化铁呈淡绿棕色。遇氯化镁呈蓝粉红色。为真菌成分之一，属蒽醌类。存在于Helminthosporium gramineum Rabenhorst.，H. catenarium，H. tritici-vulgaris Nisikado等菌体中。以蔡佩克培养基，于30℃，培养6周制得的菌体，经干燥后，用氯仿萃取，萃取物在醋酸中重结晶，再在醋酸乙酯、氯仿中依次重结晶精制。为染料中间体。
