| 王昭君 中国西汉元帝时宫女。生卒年月不详，约生活在公元前1世纪下半叶。字嫱，晋人因避司马昭讳，改称明妃，又作明君。南郡秭归(今湖北秭归)人。元帝时被选入后宫。传说她因不肯贿赂画工毛延寿而被画得容貌一般，因而数年见不到元帝。竟宁元年(前33)，匈奴呼韩邪单于入朝求亲，元帝赐与宫女5人。昭君向掖庭令请求远嫁。临行之日，“昭君丰容靓饰，光明汉宫，顾影徘徊，竦动左右。帝见大惊，意欲留之，而难于失信，遂与匈奴”。入匈奴后，立为宁胡阏氏(皇后)，生二子。呼韩邪单于死，其前阏氏之子继单于位，欲纳昭君为其阏氏，昭君上书成帝求还，成帝诏令入乡随俗，遂复为后单于阏氏。昭君在匈奴几十年，结束了长期以来汉同匈奴之间的战争局面，起到安定边疆，增进民族团结的进步作用。她的事迹历来为世人所赞颂。
