谓人生世间，作善作恶，罪福昭然，纤毫无隐；及临终时，将感来生善恶果报，先有六验。
［一、验生人中］，谓若作善之人，将死之时，先从足冷至脐，脐上犹温，然后气尽者，即生人中。
［二、验生天上］，谓若作善之人，将死之时，头顶皆温，然后气尽者，即生天上。
［三、验生饿鬼中］，谓若作恶之人，从顶冷至腰，腰下犹温，然后气尽者，即生饿鬼中。
［四、验生旁生中］，旁生，即畜生也。谓若作恶之人，从顶冷至膝，膝下犹温，然后气尽者，即生旁生中。
［五、验生地狱中］，谓若作极恶之人，从顶冷至足，足底犹温，然后气尽者，即生地狱中。
［六、验入涅槃］，谓若罗汉圣人，入于涅槃，或心及顶，数日皆温者。是也。（梵语罗汉，华言无生。梵语涅槃，华言灭度。）
