具有精确直线棱边的尺形量规(图1)。直尺用于以光隙法进行直线度测量和平面度测量，也可与量块一起,用于检验长度尺寸。图2为利用光隙法检验工件凸台高度的情形。测量前，用量块组成两组尺寸，一组等于凸台高度尺寸公差的最大极限尺寸，另一组等于最小极限尺寸。如果用前者检验，直尺棱边与凸台表面接触处透光；而用后者检验时，直尺棱边与量块测量面接触处透光，则表示凸台高度尺寸合格。直尺常用滚动轴承钢制造。
