性质:无色油状液体。熔点9-10℃,沸点246.2℃,133℃(2.0kPa),相对密度1.0862(20/4℃),折光率1.6206。能与乙醇、乙醚、苯混溶,微溶于水。见光变成红棕色。

制备方法:从煤油中回收可得到该品。重吡啶残渣油中精馏截取的260-267℃馏分段内含4-甲基喹啉35%-56%。将此馏分在酒精中与浓度为98%的浓硫酸反应,温度控制在35℃,生成磺酸盐,经冷却、结晶、过滤后,所得结晶用3倍重量的酒精重结晶,得熔点大于220℃的结晶,再用20%的深氨水在室温下分解至pH=8,得粗制4-甲基喹啉。然后在20块理论板的蒸馏塔蒸馏,切取262.3-266.8℃馏分,得纯度大于95%的4-甲基喹啉。

用途:用作染料、医药、感光材料的中间体。
