利用高电压、大储能电容通过在水中瞬间放电,产生冲击波,经半椭圆反射体的反射聚焦于半椭圆反射体的第二焦点处(放电处为第一焦点),能量增大230倍,可将置于该点之结石粉碎。由于冲击波以声学特性传播,在空气中会大大削减其能量,故需在水中进行,又由于对上述波人体与水的阻抗相似,因此,冲击波可经人体各层软组织作用于结石。
