利用放射线照射机体治疗疾病的方法。X线照射机体后，可使活组织细胞和体液损害，肿瘤细胞的生长受到障碍，甚至破坏，而且小剂量放射线的照射，还有刺激作用。如小剂量照射卵巢可改善卵巢内分泌功能，而用来治疗闭经；又如小剂量照射化脓性炎症，疖肿或慢性溃疡时，可见病变周围血供应改善，白细胞集聚，吞噬指数及抗体增加等，放射线治疗的方法有体外照射法、体腔照射法、组织间照射法、体内照射法。
