膜翅目1科。身体扁,常出没于花中，飞行迅速。触角环节多,鞭节环节具扁的延伸物,使触角呈扇状。色似胡蜂，翅具黄褐色纹。舌伸出时几与头囊等长。前胸背板后缘几呈直线。前翅Sc与R相愈合，臀室基部不收缩；因此，翅膜上鳞片状斑在臀室内。腹部背板1很短,其后缘凹入，宽而深，成一块近卵形的非骨质化区域；背板2中央不分开；产卵管很短,罕有突出于腹部末端的。幼虫一如扁叶蜂无腹足，具鬃状胸足、肛下突及7至8节相当长的触角。在草本植物上做网，过群聚生活。发生于欧洲及亚洲，主要为干草原区。
