North Slope in Alaska

   美国石油、天然气产区。位于阿拉斯加州布鲁克斯山脉以北到波弗特海沿岸近海区,是一个向斜下降的斜坡带。又称北极斜坡。它是北极外围最重要的油气盆地之一,面积约16万平方千米。构造上是一个北缓南陡的向斜盆地。北部沿海为巴罗隆起,由前泥盆系的基底组成。泥盆系至下白垩统为前陆型沉积,地层向南逐渐加厚,深度加大。南侧的布鲁克斯山原为深海槽沉积区,在早白垩世末逆转成山,并向北冲断,山前出现科维尔洼陷。自晚白垩纪起,沉积地层变为自南而北加厚,埋深加大。进入第三纪,北部沿岸成为被动大陆边缘盆地。1923年开始地质调查,1944~1953年开展系统勘探,打探井36口,未获重大发现。1962年恢复勘探,钻9口探井,在几乎令人失望时,1969年发现美国最大的普拉德霍湾油田,生产层主要是三叠系河流三角洲砂岩,深约2500米,面积500平方千米,可采储量油13.3亿吨,天然气7280亿立方米。1969年又在此油田以西发现白垩系砂岩的库帕勒克大油田,深1900米,可采储量约1.7亿吨。普拉德霍湾油田的开发,对美国的石油供应起了重要作用,年产量曾达6041万吨以上。
