火药筋是北宋初年创制的另一种初级燃烧性火器,主要制品有弓弩火药箭和火药鞭箭两种。弓弩火药箭是在一支普通箭头的后部绑附一个环绕箭杆的球形火药包,包壳用易燃物制成,内装火药,药量由弓弩的大小而定。作战时,先点着火药包,然后把箭射到敌军粮草积聚上,待着火的包壳引燃壳内的火药后,就引起猛烈燃烧。
