| 东北虎 Panthera tigris amurensis 食肉目猫科豹属虎的亚种之一。又称乌苏里虎，满洲虎。原分布于中国小兴安岭、乌苏里江流域及长白山区等地。一般体态特征及生活习性与华南虎同。在虎的诸亚种中体型最大，平均体长在2.8米左右，尾长0.9～1米，平均体重达350 千克左右。身上条纹常为赤褐色，较窄且稀疏，被毛丰满，毛色较浅。冬毛淡黄，背毛长45～55毫米，腹毛长55～65毫米；夏毛较深，较短。老年雄虎头大，面上毛浓密，十分威武。活动领域大，达3000～4200平方千米，猎食区域为500～900平方千米。以野猪、鹿类、熊、野兔、狼等为食。晨昏或夜间活动。一般 12 月下旬至翌年2月为发情期。幼兽随母生活2年。寿命约 20 年。由于栖息地生态环境较好，与其他亚种相比，性情最温顺，胆量最小，动作敏捷性和灵活性均较差。因20世纪初人类活动区扩展，森林植被破坏，东北虎的栖息地和食物缺少，其分布范围日益缩小，数量急剧下降。现存数量极少，被国际上列为濒危动物，在中国属一类保护动物。东北虎皮在诸亚种中最为美丽珍贵。
