【利率敏感型负债】短期、浮动利率的存款工具。自《1980年货币控制法》取消条例Q中的利率上限后，银行有相当比重的存款成为利率敏感型负债，如6个月货币市场票据、货币市场存款账户和可转让提款通知账户等。特别是1986年取消存款利率限制和提前提款的处罚后，加剧了以存款为银行借贷资金主要来源的不稳定性，迫使银行不得不采取新的技术加强利率风险的管理。
