表象思维(image thinking)在皮亚杰的认知发展理论中，表象思维是指儿童依照表象进行延迟性活动的思维。他认为，表象性是2一4岁儿童认知发展的特点。这个年龄阶段，儿童能够在游戏中模仿他们看见过或听到过的事物和活动，在头脑中出现了表象的模式。表象模式的出现，意味着儿童能够把活动、事件的次序在头脑中构想出来，依此进行活动，而较少依赖当前的感知材料。 (古茂盛撰王启康审)
