晋在今云南置宁州，治所在今曲靖，其地兼有黔桂各一小部。梁末废。元也在云南置宁州，所辖仅今华宁等数县地。元又于今江西修水置宁州。1801年，清改为义宁。又今甘肃宁县，西魏置宁州，以此为治所。民国废。
