The unique characteristics of the Chinese cultural tradition can be summerised as “value personal feelings, respect human relations, advocate morals and venerate ancestors”, which exercise on us both positive and negative influences.

Starting from the exposition of the origin of ancestry and ancestor worship, and the origin of phallicism, this paper analyzes the evolution of ancestor s sacrificial rituals, and discusses the ethical root of sacrificial rituals.
