The process of using and creating the syntactic rhetoric in Tang poems is actually one in which contexts are produced so as to be understood and recognized with rhetorical effect.

In view of the sentence rhetoric,this paper shows the sentence s organizational system,describes the different organizational,multi-categorical and complex transforming relations,delineates the realistic and psychological basis of the trransformation,provides the effective methods to the transformation,and discusses the principles of transformations.

The present paper, drawing upon the theory of speech act metonymy put forward by Panther & Thornburg (1997; 1998; 1999), focuses on the study of the relationship between the act of asking questions and that of making statements in rhetorical questions.

The current study is conducted on the basis of more than 100 rhetorical questions collected from The Tale of Two Cities, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and other literary works.
