位于伊春带岭林业局以北26km处，总面积121.33km2。
建于1980年，境内峰峦起伏，主山脉多为南北走向，最高峰为本区北部的岭来东山，海拔707.3m，向南逐渐降低至本区的西南端永翠河北岸，海拔280m，全区海拔为400m左右。主要河流为凉水沟（河），是永翠河的最大支流之一，支流有常年流水的向阳沟、缶风沟、长春沟以及许多季节流水的小溪流。具有明显的温带大陆性季风气候特征。保护区内红松具有很高的科研价值，也是兴安岭所有的林木中最珍贵树种，从1953年到现在前后已有数十项关于红松的研究项目，成果显著。
