晋贞女，法名修清，江苏镇江晋文林之女。幼聪慧，不食荤膻。七八岁，即能助亲络丝，治田圃。十岁，则女红纺绩，俨若成人。年十三，见邻里家室乖违，及产厄暴亡等苦，觉人生如梦，浑浑噩噩，遂立志不字，有出尘想。言于二亲，词意坚决，父母姑听之。由是长斋念佛，虽操作，仍念佛不辍。如是修持，几二十余年。迨年四十，父母相继弃世，弟妹婚嫁事毕，遂在镇江焦东乡后，袁家门，观音庵潜修，一意西归。而作福念佛，愈为勤恳。至民国丁卯年，十月十一日，示微疾，预知时至，谓有来迎者。乃换衣履，端坐合掌念佛。至戌时，如入禅定，安详而逝。遗言身后火化，投之江流。越日，容貌如生。（俞慧郁钞集）
