雁行模式是日本经济学家赤松要先生在30年代提出，用以说明当时日本的工业成长模式的。赤松要先生发现日本的产业通常经历了进口新产品、进口替代、出口和重新进口四个阶段的周期，在图表上呈现倒%26ldquo;V%26rdquo;形，酷似飞行中的雁阵，故而取名。60年代以后，该模式被应用并引申于说明东亚国家国际产业分工和结构变化的情况。根据该模式，产业依照科技的复杂程度，从低到高分为劳动和资源密集、资金密集、技术和知识密集三个梯级。一个国家或地区在经济发展中往往经历以上三个梯级。随着它的工业化程度提高和人均收入的增加，某些产品逐渐失去优势，因而将其转移至低一个梯级的国家或地区，自己再上一个梯级。而今，在这雁阵中日本居先，是领头雁，亚洲%26ldquo;四小%26rdquo;居中，东盟诸国在后。
