This paper analyzes the current situation of psychological health study in China and holds that the main problems are too many theory schools but few standards,strong theory studies but weak case studies and much Western theory but little native theory.

In the speech,my remarks are in two points:first,I propose that we look more closely into the consequences for health research of not addressing gender effectively;second,I suggest how we may redress this situation both at the level of research itself and through the creation of a supportive institutional environment.
