In this paper the author traces the history of film translation in China against the backdrop of social and political history.

This paper summarizes the achievements of research into translation of films in our country from the perspectives of language characteristics of films and translation principles,two ways of film translation and translation of film titles and points out problems in translation of films and the direction for the future development.

The paper,on the basis of five features of film language given by Professor Qian Shao-chang and the specific characteristics of film translation,puts forward two points that translator should pay attention to when doing film translation.
