 (术语)人命终后未受报之间,是中有也,中有之寿命但极于七日而死,死而复生,未得生缘,则至七七日,七七日,罪业审定,方受其报。此间亲属为亡者修追福,则转劣而为胜云。古婆沙论五十三曰:“尊者奢摩达多说曰:中有众生,寿七七日。尊者和须蜜曰:中有众生寿命七日,所以者何?彼身累弱故。”瑜伽论一曰:“此中有若未得生缘极七日住,若极七日未得生缘死而复生,极七日住,如是展转未得生缘,乃至七七日住,自此以后定得生缘。”地藏菩萨本愿经上曰:“圣女又问:此水何缘而乃涌沸?多诸罪人及以恶兽无?毒答曰:此是阎浮提造恶众新死之者,经四十九日,后无继嗣,为作功德,救援苦难。生时又无善因,当据本业所感地狱。”
