和弦中各音先后连续奏出者称分解和弦，为和弦的装饰性或音型化处理方法之一。它常作为伴奏织体，在主调音乐中应用。18世纪上半叶，早期钢琴音乐中著名的阿尔贝蒂低音，即为分解和弦伴奏音型。也可作为曲调或声部进行的一种成分，具有旋律作用，并表示出和声内涵。18世纪以后到19世纪浪漫派作家的作品中，分解和弦的应用极为普遍，并愈趋复杂，为和声的一种重要织体类型。有的作品仅用分解和弦构成，如J.S.巴赫《平均律钢琴曲集》第1册第1首的前奏曲。上例左手部分为分解和弦伴奏音型。
