[互助担保]亦称“同业互保”。存款保险机构同业约定或建立共同基金，以便同业发生困难时相互救助的风险互保措施。最早见于中国的广东商人互保计划，是广东洋行商人间的一种约定，约定拥有特许权与外人交易的商人，对于他人债务，应彼此担保。美国纽约州于1829年由一位叫约舍华·福尔曼的商人依中国广东洪姓商人的建议，参考广东商人互保计划建立了州存款保险制度，以后其他州也设立了带有互助担保性质的存款保险制度。
