由来自英格兰剑桥(Cambridge)大学以及全市最负盛名的亚登布鲁克斯（Adenbrookes)医院的研究人员合作，将向有关部门申请经费补助，来进行一项训练狗儿从人的尿液嗅出癌症病症的一项研究计划。在英国，癌症每年的影响超过20,000人。
领导该项计划的索默维尔(BarbaraSommerville)博士向《星期日泰晤士报》表示：“我们将训练狗来辨别患有恶性摄护腺肿瘤病人的尿液味道。”
