（术语）梵语曰哩始，R!s!i称外道之高德者为仙人。以其多入山行道故也。仙果已极，得五种通力。故谓为五通仙。又称佛亦曰大仙。大日经疏六曰：“持明仙者，是余药力等所成。悉地持明仙者，皆是专依咒术得悉地人。直云诸仙者，皆是围陀事火之类，劝修苦行成五通神仙。”楞伽经四曰：“大慧！我于此娑呵世界有三阿僧祇百千名号。（中略）或有众生知我如来者。（中略）有知仙人者。”楞严经八曰：“阿难，复有从人不依正觉修三摩地，别修妄念，存想固形。游山林人不及处，有十种仙。（中略）此等皆于人中练心，不修正觉。别得生理，寿千万岁，休止深山或大海岛，绝于人境。斯亦轮回妄想流转。不修三昧，报尽还来，散入诸趣。”(参见：仙)
